A NEW TOWN A FRESH START :0)

Robin Williams once Said “GOOD MORNING VEITNAM”, a wonderful movie, a great actor, and the next ambassador of comedy to the UN if I get to vote :0)
America has produced amazing gifts to the world over the years and I believe all this has been possible because of the freedom that has been bought with the price of her vets and the courage of a band of visionaries that gained strength from a winter at Valley Forge that sent a powerful monarchy packing. The United State`s has been the safe haven and hope to the many oppressed people around the globe.
Growing up in Ireland I loved to go to the Saturday morning matinees and watch John Wayne ride through the historic Wild West. I dreamt of traveling to America and riding through the deserts of the west and sleeping under star lit canopies serenaded by the calls of the wild.
The first time I discovered Bend was on a warm Sunday afternoon about 9 years ago. I had been suffering badly from the allergies in the valley and a friend recommended a trip to Bend. As I began to ascend the road out of the valley a sense of excitement rose within me. The trees seemed to part a path leading onwards ever upwards then leveling off onto the high desert plains filled with new adventure.
That day will forever live in my memory. It was the catalyst for many excursions into Central Oregon. I traveled her roads by RV, Motorcycle and her mountain paths by foot and cross country ski`s and watched many a glorious sun leave only to return to light the dawn. My staging point was always Bend and over the years watched her grow as pilgrims from all over the Globe came to find a new life and add fresh new threads to her expanding fabric and beauty.
Recently Cynthia and I decided to make the transition from the valley to the mountain and even though the economy was slow and future uncertain we prayed and let God open the doors and boy have they been swinging wide. Honestly we have received a warm welcome to this thriving community and our health has improved greatly. We look forward to adding our thread and culture to this blessed and encouraging Oasis. Cynthia heralds from beautiful Argentina and up until 2 years ago lived in Barcelona Spain.
What makes my heart beat and thrive is to see people using their God given talents and gifts unselfishly living life to the fullest as it is so short and swift. To live in the present is an amazing thing but to hold onto the past robs you of life its self and the wonderful surprise`s our creator has in store. So cut those bungee cords that hold you back and spring forward and face those fears unhindered armed with a strong self-esteem and unconditional love for your fellow wo-man Kind ;0)

So sorry to hear you're back in the valley and no longer living up in the mountain sunshine, but at least you snapped the bungee cords for a little while. Some people never have the courage to even do that. Shoot, for that matter, a lot of people wouldn't have the courage to move to a different country...
so glad you made it across the pond and sharing the soil with me here in the USA. its always great to meet a lover of life and nature... i do hope that one day our paths cross beyond the pixels of our computers. x

Maui? Really. Now that we're going into the worst of the winter months in the Midwest, I have to say I'm green with envy. And thanks for the comment on my cemetery hub! Much appreciated!
