What to say to someone who has recently broken up after a long relationship
69I once heard someone say," A friend is someone who comes in when all the world has gone out " and then I have heard a selfish person say.." A friend in need is a pest".
But the best thing to say to someone who is going through a breakup is real nothing at all..accept I Love you and am here for you if you ever want an ear or a hug and then if you you truly do love them hang out with them once twice a week and just let them talk or be silent or call them just to say you love them and remember its a greving process and they have to go through it and for pete`s do not try to find them someone else...ok i know you know lol

ThA true friend is a coulder to cry on and an ear to bend. You have said it all. That really is the best thing that you cando for your friend- especially when they are not ready to really cope with the breakup.

I like your attitude, Mike. You're right. The best friend is the kind who stands by your side and just listens. The same thing also applies to what you say to someone who has lost someone in death. Many people don't know what to say in this situation. Basically, all you can do is say "I'm so sorry," and be there when they need a shoulder to cry on or a an ear to listen.

thank you, I am having two good freinds who are dating go through a break up at the moment and it's rather difficult becuase the guy is kind of emotionally all over the place and keeps to himself well the girl is more cool calm collected but will be hurt more. It Really Helped when I told her this.
